Torget: Vacant Houses and the Land we Share

In some places there is a housing shortage, while houses stand empty. How does that add up? And how can houses and people find one another? What role can the existing built environment play in the communities of the future?

Visions in the North step 2 is an innovation project in Norrbotten and Västerbotten that explores methods for developing local perspectives in societal development.

Team Boden is one of six teams that have worked within Visions in the North. They investigated vacant houses in the Råne älvdal in the municipality of Boden to identify solutions that can turn them into a resource for Boden’s growing population.

In the installation at Torget, Team Boden develops these ideas further while creating a platform for continued dialogue on land use, resources and conflicting interests in the green industrial transition in northern Sweden.
