In the green industrial transition, the pace of urban development is increasing and societal priorities are being put to the test. How can we rapidly create new housing that also provides high-quality living environments, both in the short and long term? And what role can vacant houses and the existing built environment play in the societies of the future?
In connection with the installation Torget: Vacant Houses and the Land We Share, ArkDes presents a series of talks on the green transition in Norrbotten and Västerbotten, which involves some of the largest investments ever in technology and infrastructure. This places high demands on new housing and sustainable living environments. In some places there is a housing shortage while houses stand empty—how can this be reconciled, and how can homes and people find each other? How can different needs and interests share the same land?
The evening begins with a presentation of the installation and Team Boden’s work within the innovation project Visions in the North, followed by a discussion on how societal visions and resources risk coming into conflict as the pace of development increases.
The bar at Torget is open throughout the programme.
