What laws and regulations govern what gets built? Why does your apartment look the way it does? Welcome home to our newly built two-room exhibit apartment!
For a week in February, we invite you to a conversation about building regulations and architecture, through history and into the future. On Tuesday 11 February and Friday 14 February, there will be lectures and panel discussions, and this week’s Unboxing has the theme “Living in the north”, where Chief Curator Carlos Mínguez Carrasco dives deep into Erskine’s Arctic housing project together with the audience.
Boverket’s (The National Board of Housing, Building and Planning’s) updated building regulations will become effective on 1 July 2025. How does this affect what is built in the future and what it will look like? Are the critics’ concerns justified? Who ensures sufficiently high quality even when the requirements are not as clearly defined?
In collaboration with architects Tove Dumon Wallsten, Love di Marco and Gustav Stjärnström, we at ArkDes have constructed a full-scale installation to visualize what a future home (perhaps) could look like. Please move in for a while and participate in the conversation about laws and regulations, worries and opportunities.
