Design Bar: Newly graduated, now what?

What are todays pathways into the design profession?

The Government’s strategy for the cultural and creative industries sets out the ambition for Sweden to strengthen its position as a leading country in the field. At the same time, many young designers find it difficult to establish themselves professionally, even though the industries employ nearly 200,000 people.

During this evening’s Design Bar, we will discuss how needs and skills can be better matched. What jobs are available today, what skills are being taught, and which pathways are open to newly graduated designers?

The evening begins with a conversation about the key challenges shaping the future of the design fields, followed by a workshop in which we explore possible ways forward.

• Share your perspective on how future designers can best establish themselves in the design industry. The workshop takes place in the foyer outside of Aula ArkDes. The outcomes will be used by Svensk Form and SVID as input for their continued work and public dialogue.
