Design Bar: How to design the future?

How can we use design to understand and shape the future? Join us for an evening at ArkDes where we explore methods from service design and futures research, create scenarios, and test tools in an interactive workshop.

Designing for potential futures has become an essential part of service design, speculative design, foresight, and trend analysis. Using tools from futures research and service design, we create future scenarios that support decision-making and strategy development. To make better decisions, we need diverse perspectives and stronger tools for designing the future. During this evening at ArkDes, we will discuss methods for designing the future and dive into a collaborative workshop.

17:30 Panel discussion on designing future visions

18:00 Workshop

• We practice our ability to imagine radically different futures, guided by Sara Tunheden, service designer, Chair of Futures Sweden, and Egle Karaliune-Jonzon, service designer and Chapter lead of the Service Design Network Sweden. No prior knowledge required!

19:00 Conclusion

Our new Design Bar explores contemporary challenges through design methods. Each session starts with a lecture or panel discussion, followed by a workshop for deeper engagement with the topic. The Design Bar initiative highlights the power of design in shaping a sustainable future. Alcohol-free beverages and snacks will be available for purchase at Torget via Swish.
