Conference: Visions in the North

After two years of work, the results of the innovation project Visioner i Norr step 2 are presented. The Council for Sustainable Cities, the Swedish Government’s initiative for sustainable urban development, invites you to a conference on how architecture, art and design can be applied as concrete tools in complex processes of societal transformation.

In Norrbotten and Västerbotten, some of the largest investments to date in the green transition, technology and infrastructure are currently underway. This development places significant demands on new housing and the creation of sustainable living environments.

In Gällivare, Kiruna and Umeå, interdisciplinary teams have worked in close collaboration with municipalities and local communities to develop prototypes and working methods that explore how different perspectives can be brought together in shaping long-term sustainable living environments.

The conference brings together the teams, invited speakers and representatives from municipalities, government agencies and academia. On stage are, among others, Helene Hellmark Knutsson, Governor of Västerbotten County; Jonas Lundström, National Industrial Coordinator at the Acceleration Office; and Helena Bjarnegård, Chair of the Council for Sustainable Cities.

The programme offers methods and perspectives relevant to planning, policy development and implementation.
