Themed Tour: How Sweden Was Built (The Industrial Settlement)

Photo: Christoffer Lomfors. SVT, How Sweden Was Built (Så byggdes Sverige). 2025.

The Industrial Settlement – Dead or Reviving?

Follow the story of model communities and industrial settlements – places built with a clear purpose, where factories, labour, and social life shaped both the environment and the lives of the people. Through objects, models, and stories from the ArkDes Collection, we explore not only the past, but also how history can inspire future ways of building, living, and fostering community.

The tour is based on the exhibition ArkDes Collection and ties in with the Swedish Television series How Sweden Was Built ↗ (Så byggdes Sverige), with a special focus on the episode: The Industrial Settlement.
