Opening Weekend

Stockholm Exhibition 1930, night fireworks in front of the Aquarium. Gunnar Asplund. Photographer: Gustav W:son Cronquist. ArkDes collection.

ArkDes reopens its doors and is celebrating with an action-packed opening weekend from September 27-29.

Step through the new entrance of ArkDes into a world filled with architecture and design. The redesigned exhibition halls, created by the architectural firm Arrhov Frick, showcase materials from one of the world’s largest architectural collections, the ArkDes Collection. Here, you can see the winning proposal for the Stockholm Public Library, Léonie Geisendorf’s noticeboard, and the trendiest disco from the 1980s.

In the temporary exhibition Designing Motherhood: Things That Make and Break Our Births, you can try a birthing chair and see the first breast pump designed for women’s bodies. At Torget, ArkDes’ new meeting place, you can reflect on the architecture and design of tomorrow through the installation Power of Places.

Join one of the many tours during the weekend, discover never-before-seen materials with ArkDes curators in the new concept Unboxing, and play at Utsikten, ArkDes’ secret garden for children.

Free admission and programs.
