Conference: Visions in the North

Welcome to the conference Visions in the North: From Local Prototypes to National Learning!

After two years of intensive work, the results of the innovation project Visions in the North step 2 are now being presented. The Council for Living Cities, the government’s initiative for sustainable urban development, invites you to a forward-looking conference that moves from local prototypes to national learning. The focus is on how architecture, art, and design can be used as concrete tools to address complex societal challenges.

In Gällivare, Kiruna, and Umeå, three interdisciplinary teams have worked in close collaboration with municipalities and local communities. Based on local conditions, they have developed prototypes and new ways of working that explore how different interests can be brought together in the development of attractive and vibrant living environments for current and future residents.

The conference features presentations on the teams’ work and in-depth talks by, among others, Helene Hellmark Knutsson, County Governor of Västerbotten, Jonas Lundström, National Industrial Coordinator at the Accelerationskontoret, and Helena Bjarnegård, Chair of the Living Cities Council. The programme also includes panel discussions with municipalities, government agencies, and experts.

As a participant, you will gain methods and perspectives that can be applied in planning, policy development, and practical implementation.
