Conversation between the Syrian architect Marwa al-Sabouni and the curator Mariam Elnozahy
Lecture and conversation between the Syrian architect Marwa al-Sabouni and the curator Mariam Elnozahy.
In connection with the exhibition Imagine an After ↗ at Tensta konsthall ↗, a lecture is arranged with the Syrian architect Marwa al-Sabouni based in Homs. In her books The Battle for Home, Memoir of a Syrian Architect (2015) and Building for Hope: Towards and Architecture of Belonging (2021), she discusses the role of architecture in a society in crisis and how reconstruction can take place in the wake of long periods of war and economic depression.
The exhibition Imagine an After ↗ at Tensta konsthall ↗ includes works by ten artists and architects who reflect in different ways on possible spaces and ways forward in a time of escalating conflicts that constantly leave new ruins and displacements of people in their wake.
Note! The lecture takes place in English via Zoom. After the lecture, you are invited to a conversation moderated by Mariam Elnozahy, artistic director at Konsthall C ↗.
The lecture is a collaboration between the Stockholm Architects’ Association ↗, ArkDes, Architects without Borders ↗ and
Tensta konsthall ↗.
