Report: Commoning the Heritage

How can the inherited environment become a living part of the future? This is the question in focus in ‘Commoning the Heritage’ in Robertsfors, part of ArkDes’ practice-based research initiative in 2023, conducted in collaboration with Robertsfors Municipality and the Swedish National Heritage Board.

Through a call for proposals, the team Robertsforsgruppen was commissioned to explore and test methods for the long-term management and strengthening of cultural heritage in collaboration with the local community. During 2023, the team has studied and engaged with the historic agricultural buildings of Robertsfors Bruk and the social dynamics of the area.

The project is summarized in a final report by Robertsforsgruppen, presenting strategies, methods, and design proposals for the development of the building and its surroundings. The report reflects dedicated work and demonstrates how knowledge, relationships, strategies, and design processes can be applied to manage and enhance cultural heritage in a value-creating way alongside the local community.
