School programme: Durable structures
Year: 7–9
What is needed to build sustainably? In this educational programme, we explore various technical solutions for durable and stable structures, as well as the importance of materials in the evolution of architecture. Using examples from the collection’s sketches, drawings, and models, we focus primarily on 20th-century developments and discuss how the three aspects of sustainability—ecological, economic, and social—have played varying roles in the emergence of the welfare state. In the concluding workshop, students build models and explore structures and physical durability.
