Welcome to the conference Visions in the North: From Local Prototypes to National Learning

The Council for Living Cities, the Swedish government’s initiative for sustainable urban development, invites you to a forward-looking day grounded in the two-year innovation project Visions in the North Step 2.

In Gällivare, Svappavaara and Umeå, three teams, working closely with municipalities and local communities, have used architecture, art and design as operative tools to explore how selected sites can evolve into attractive living environments for residents today and in the future.

Building on the teams’ insights and methods, we now look ahead and carry the learnings forward. Join the discussion on the future of living cities and communities through the teams’ presentations and in-depth conversations with participating municipalities, agencies and experts.

When: 25 March 2026, 9:00–12:30. Registration for on-site participation opens at 8:30.

How: A free half-day conference. Advance registration is required.
