Workshop: Wattle and Daub a Prehistoric Animal

Photo: Sima Korenivski. 2024. Utsikten – a place for co-creation and play.

Construct with post-glacial clay, shimmering gold sand, horse manure, and straw.

In ArkDes’ backyard Utsikten, a giant scrap and clay serpent has emerged. But doesn’t everyone need a friend? Help us create a companion for the serpent using the magical material clay and the ancient building technique wattle and daub.

This workshop is led by clay expert Johannes Riesterer.

‌The activity is free of charge, requires no prior experience, and every age group is welcome.

Create and Play at Utsikten All Summer

Utsikten is a secret garden where creatures of all kinds and sizes can play, thrive, and grow. Here, we create treasures from scrap, natural materials, and imagination. Throughout the summer, ArkDes offers three major workshops in collaboration with the design group MYCKET (the creators of Utsikten) and clay expert Johannes Riesterer.

During the school holidays, we also provide open workshops with ArkDes staff. You can of curse play on Utsikten all day every day. Learn more about Utsikten here.
