“Nec spe nec metu”, meaning “without either hope or fear”, was the name Gunnar Asplund gave to his winning proposal for the Stockholm City Archive in the 1939 architectural competition. It became his final assignment. Asplund never had the chance to begin construction before passing away the following year. The archive at Kungsklippan was instead completed by his colleague Sven Ivar Lind.
Join architectural historian Christopher Vainesworth from the Stockholm City Archive, in collaboration with ArkDes, as we open the collections in this Unboxing, search for traces of the building’s history, and take a closer look at the original drawings.
