Artist Ann Edholm wins the 2012 competition to design a new curtain for one of the council chambers at the UN Headquarters in New York. The room is designed by architect Sven Markelius and inaugurated in 1952. Since then, the chamber has undergone several renovations, and everything from furniture to textiles has been replaced.
Edholm’s curtain Dialogos, which today hangs in front of the chamber’s large windows facing the East River, is one of the more recent additions. It is composed of triangular shapes stretching from floor to ceiling. In this Unboxing, we invite Ann Edholm to talk about the work behind Dialogos. We also look at material from the Markelius collection to explore how she worked with the room and responded to the original drawings.
The conversation is led by curators Daniel Golling and Max Ahrent.
