Seminar: The City as a Resource

Stockholm is considered to meet several of the criteria that characterize a sustainable city. It has dense housing, abundant greenery, plenty of common meeting places and a fuctioning public transport system. However, in recent years, development has been rapid: demolitions, devempolment, social segregation and increased traffic have become commonplace.

Today, a number of project are underway to reverse the trend and awarness is increasing about environmentally friendly alternatives such as recycling, electrification, shared transport, environmentally friendly building materials and safe outdoor environments. The pendulum swings, but needs to swing faster.
