Gingerbread House 2026

Tradition meets playfulness as ArkDes presents the most fragrant exhibition of the Christmas season, where amateurs and professionals display their gingerbread houses side by side.

For more than 35 years, the Gingerbread House exhibition has invited both participants and visitors to explore architecture and design through gingerbread dough. The bakers find creative solutions to construction, durability, function and decoration, just as architects and designers do in real life.

The theme of this year’s gingerbread house exhibition is the future. With dough and icing, we explore the visions, dreams and ideas that lie just around the corner.

Both exhibition and competition

How participants interpret this year’s theme is of great importance when a jury assesses the entries. Competitors are judged on construction, form, edibility and connection to the theme. Participants exhibit in three categories:

• Architects, designers and bakers
• Up to 12 years old
• Everyone else who bakes

The jury selects a winner in each of these three categories. In addition, the Public’s Prize is presented to the entry that receives the most votes from the public.
