A Network of Places

Discover a world of linked open data through our new research blog!

In 2024, ArkDes initiated a research and development project called A Network of Places: Open Linked Building Data as Research Infrastructure in collaboration with the Swedish National Heritage Board’s archive↗, the National Museum of Fine Arts ↗, the National Museum of Science and Technology, and Wikimedia Sverige ↗. The aim is to explore how geographical data can be transformed into linked open data, thereby enabling new perspectives on collections.

Researchers and other users sometimes find it difficult to locate information on specific topics that institutions hold expertise in, even though this information has been made digitally available. The project examines how existing data can be made more accessible by linking collections to geographical data. The goal is for users to more efficiently access relevant information on specific topics, with sources from various resources and collections gathered on a single platform. The project also aims to document the methodology used to achieve this result.
