A study of transnational collaborations during and after the Second World War.<\/p>\n

Through tracing architectural exchanges in the ArkDes collection, Marcelo Rovira Torres sheds light on how Swedish and international architects joined forces and built networks that extended beyond national borders in the rebuilding of society after the Second World War.<\/p>\n

Marcelo Rovira Torres is an architect with a strong foundation in architectural theory and history. He was educated at KTH in Stockholm, ETH Zurich, and EPFL Lausanne in Switzerland. Alongside his professional practice, he teaches in the Master’s programme in Architecture at KTH.<\/p>\n

In his research project at ArkDes, Rovira Torres investigated architectural projects in the collection that exemplify transnational exchange—projects that highlight both Swedish architects working abroad and international architects working in Sweden during the 20th century.<\/p>\n

The analysis includes works by Fred Forbat, Sven Ivar Lind, Sune Lindström, Charles-Édouard Geisendorf, and Sven Hesselgren. The study focuses particularly on the period during and immediately after the Second World War, revealing a dense international network in which Swedish and Sweden-based architects played a key role in postwar reconstruction.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n

About the Guest Researcher Program<\/h2>\n \n

Since 2021, ArkDes has hosted guest researchers for short-term residencies of three to six months, focusing on specific questions related to the ArkDes collection. The aim of the program is to introduce a wider range of perspectives into the ongoing research on the collection and to make academic knowledge more accessible to the public.<\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n \n

Research Outcomes<\/h2>\n \n

The outcomes of several guest researcher projects have shaped and enriched the exhibition ArkDes Collectio<\/em>n<\/a>, which opened in 2024. The exhibition is updated annually with new original objects, and research conducted through the Guest Researcher Program can influence both its themes and content.<\/p>\n

Guest researchers also share their work through public events and an annual research conference hosted by ArkDes. Calls for new guest researchers are announced annually, typically during the spring semester.<\/p>\n
