How can former industrial and manufacturing sites become shared resources for the future? This question is explored by the architecture and art team TEJA<\/em> in a new report produced as part of the practice-based research project Commoning the Heritage: Norrahammar<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Using the former industrial site in Norrahammar as its point of departure, the team investigated how artistic methods and design processes can contribute new perspectives to urban development. In the report, TEJA<\/em> highlights both the material structures of the buildings and landscape and the stories, experiences and relationships that have shaped the site over time.<\/p>\n

The report also presents possible strategies for future management and development of the area, while demonstrating how artistic practices can strengthen collaboration across municipal departments and other stakeholders.<\/p>\n

“Our work is an attempt to move away from the sometimes rigid and hierarchical structures that characterise Swedish planning and building legislation, and instead apply a more artistic and exploratory methodology to some of the most complex questions in urban development.
