The Architecture Map<\/em> is a new feature that lets you explore architecture across Sweden. Through the map, you can discover drawings, photographs and other material from the ArkDes Collection connected to places, buildings and architects.<\/p>\n

The Architecture Map<\/em><\/a> brings together geographic information and collection material in a single view. By searching for a place or navigating the map, you can explore buildings across the country and discover what material about them is preserved in the ArkDes Collection.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, ArkDes launched Search the Collection<\/em> on arkdes.se, making it possible to search the museum’s digitised collection directly through the website. The objects are still published on DigitaltMuseum ↗<\/a>, but are now easier to find and explore via arkdes.se.<\/p>\n

Together, these features are important steps in making the ArkDes Collection more digitally accessible. By providing more and clearer ways to search and explore, they make it easier to discover one of the world’s largest architecture collections. Through drawings, sketches, photographs, models and other objects, the collection reveals the processes, creativity, visions and people behind Sweden’s built environment.<\/p>\n

The map view is one of the visualisations developed as part of the research and development project A Network of Places – Cultural Heritage and Linked Open Data as Infrastructure<\/em><\/a>. The project was carried out in collaboration between ArkDes, Nationalmuseum, the National Museum of Science and Technology, the Swedish National Heritage Board Archives and Wikimedia Sverige, and concluded in spring 2026.<\/p>\n

The Architecture Map<\/em> builds on the Architecture Museum’s former Architecture Register, which has been supplemented with geographic information and published as linked open data. This means that information about architects and buildings is not only displayed in the map, but is also freely available for download and reuse.<\/p>\n

All data is published under a CC0 licence, meaning it is free to use, reuse and build upon.<\/p>\n

Together, Search the Collection<\/em> and the Architecture Map<\/em> create new ways to discover the ArkDes Collection digitally. You may find a new favourite building, an unexpected archival trace or a place you would like to learn more about.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n
