ArkDes’s collection is in high demand by researchers, architecture students, and practicing architects. However, handling the items requires care, as a large portion of the material consists of paper and photographs.<\/p>\n

Digitising the collection is essential for its preservation and accessibility. Therefore, we are continuously digitising items to meet both the museum’s needs and public demand. Given the size of the collection, it’s not possible to digitise all materials, but currently, nearly 230 000 of the four million items in the ArkDes collection are available on DigitaltMuseum ↗<\/a>. On DigitaltMuseum you can search for specific architects or buildings of interest.<\/p>\n

Cataloguing Process<\/p>\n

To make the digital collection searchable for the public, it needs to be meticulously catalogued. Creating detailed, high-quality digital records is a time-consuming and resource-intensive process. Often, not all prerequisites are in place, and digitisation projects start by making digital reproductions of the collection available with basic information. We always appreciate additional information about the digitally available items and are continuously working to improve the data describing our collections.
