Gingerbread House 2015

2 December 2015 - 10 January 2016

This year sees the 25th anniversary of the ArkDes gingerbread house exhibition – an unusual, sweet-smelling exhibition!

The theme for 2015 is “A new den – new ways to live”. More and more people want to have a place to live in our cities, it’s starting to become crowded. So we have to build homes in totally new places and in totally new ways. As usual, there were no restrictions on how to interpret the theme. Hundreds of children, young people and professionals exercised their creative flair and used gingerbread dough to design forms of living that previously seemed impossible.

“In a sweet-smelling, playful yet serious way, we let all bakers interpret an important issue. The creations of children, young people and adults are displayed side by side with no hierarchical division,” says Karin Åberg Wearn, Acting Visitor Manager at ArkDes.

Competitors are divided into the following categories:
Architects, designers and bakers
Up to aged 12
All others who bake

The jury
A jury selects two winners in each category, one from the digital contributions and one from those that are physically on site at ArkDes. There is also a prize for the public’s favourite, with the general public being able to vote between 2 and 17 December, either at the venue on Skeppsholmen or via the website www.arkdes.se.

The jury consists of:
Jens Fager, formgivare
Donya Absi, Sveriges yngsta mästerkock 2015 i TV4.
Sara Aasum Hultberg, årets konditor 2014
Dan Hallemar, arkitekt och journalist, ArkDes
Alexandra Lauren, Skanska

The competition for 2015 is open to everyone all over the country in the online competition Sverigebaket. The ArkDes gingerbread house exhibition is free and open to all.
