School classes are warmly welcome to visit ArkDes independently with their teachers, who remain responsible for their classes throughout the visit. You’ll find practical information and visitor rules here. Please familiarise yourself with these rules before your visit.
When you arrive
During your visit to ArkDes, you will meet your museum hosts at the cashier’s desk or in the exhibitions. Register your visit at the cashier’s desk when you arrive. They will be pleased to answer any questions you might have about the exhibitions or programmes. They are also always grateful to receive your tips and comments.
The teacher remains responsible for the group
Please keep your group together in the museum. The teacher remains responsible for the class throughout your visit in the museum. We recommend that groups of students up to junior high school level (grade 9) are accompanied at all times by a teacher or teachers.
Why can’t we touch the objects on display in the exhibitions?
Even touching an object lightly results in significant damage to the object because the salts and oils on our fingers always leave marks on all materials. You are not permitted to touch the objects because we want to preserve them for future generations of museum visitors as well.
Schools information
Please have a task for your students to complete during their visit. Use only pencils in the exhibition rooms if the students need to make notes or draw.
Where can we eat our lunch?
Packed lunches can be eaten on Level 2 at the lakeside entrance, where there are tables and chairs. You are not permitted to eat or drink inside the exhibition rooms or in the corridors.
Lockers
It is easy to bump against objects on display in the exhibition rooms. For this reason, please leave all backpacks, larger bags, umbrellas, etc., in the cloakroom or in the lockers located behind the museum shop on Level 4 and at the entrance on Level 2.
Photography
You are permitted to film and photograph in the exhibition rooms but only without a flash. Repeated flashes are not good from a conservation perspective, and are generally disruptive to other visitors. Please include #Arkdes if you post any of your images from the exhibitions on social media.
In the exhibition rooms
Show consideration for other visitors and ongoing guided tours. If there is a booked guided tour in progress, they have precedence in the exhibition rooms.
