Another Generosity: The Nordic Pavilion at the 2018 Venice Architecture Biennale
Join Eero Lundén (Lundén Architecture Company)—curator of Another Generosity, the exhibition of the Nordic Pavilion at the 2018 Venice Architecture Biennale—for a special presentation in Stockholm.
A discussion will follow between Lundén, Juulia Kauste (co-curator and former Director of the Museum of Finnish Architecture) and Kieran Long (Director, ArkDes).
Another Generosity explores the relationship between nature and the built environment, investigating ways in which new approaches to architecture can help shape a world that supports the symbiotic coexistence of both. A ‘generosity’, Lundén argues, is not just between humans but between humans and nature.
Utilising a structure comprising two basic elements—water and air—the structures currently on display in the Nordic Pavilion in Venice combine to create a visible and dynamic cellular structure. Inflated elements mediate between the natural and built environment, responding to external and sometimes unseen stimuli. Together they create a momentary hesitation that heightens awareness of what surrounds us.
